Our self-service campsites offers guests the chance to camp in the Masai Mara on a budget.
We have two open, spacious private campsites alongside the Olare Orok river and have views of the plains abounding Rhino Ridge.
Shady and with clear spots between the riverine trees, our affordable private campsites are great for hanging out in during the day and well-suited to the needs of larger groups.
Booking one of Tor’s campsites ensures you have access to one of our beautiful, isolated spots and use of all of Tor’s communal facilities.
All of Tor's self-service campsites have their own BBQ, mini-mess tent structure, low-lying coffee table & a pair of kerosene lamps.
Guests also have access to hot showers in the camp's shower rooms. Each campsite also has a short-drop toilet tent erected far enough away as to give campsite users some privacy, and near enough that when nature calls you're not found wondering whether it's a call worth answering.
Electricity for the charging of phones, cameras and other devices is available in the welcome tent.
Phone signal is assured, despite the leafy tree-cover, by a signal booster erected above the welcome tent.
Camp chair, tent and bedroll rental is available. Ice machine use can be arranged on request.
(Be advised, this is self-service camping, with a few add-on amenities, so make sure you bring whatever you haven’t rented. I.e: seating, cooking utensils, food and drink, etc. We're not here to take all the fun out of living off the work of your own two hands)
Self-service campsites prices:
If you want to make your own Masai Mara camp on one of our campsites, the fee for one night is 120 USD and each campsite can accommodate up to 10 persons.
If you are coming with a small group (3 or less) we charge 30 USD per person per night.
In addition to the camping fee, each camper staying at any accommodation within the Masai Mara National Reserve has to pay a community fee that goes toward the support of local community members. These are as follows:
Kenya resident: 3000 KSH
Non-resident adult: 80 USD
Non-resident child: 40 USD
Be advised, these prices are for accommodation only. All campers will have to organise and pay for park entrance fees at the gates to the Masai Mara National Reserve.
